Pilgrim’s Progress Lecture - The Delectable Mountains - Tom Sullivan / Puritan Reformed Audio Books In this lesson we discuss the conversations with the Shepherds of The Delectable Mountains. It consists of 4 illustrations from four Shepherds named Knowledge, Experience, Caution and Sincere. The last illustration is a view of the celestian city through a telescope. Because it is called Emmanuel’s Land I gave a historical sketch of a hymn by Anna R. Cousins (1824-1906) based on Samuel Rutherford’s dying words, “all glory dwells in Emmanuel’s land." This hymn is now called "The Sands of Time are Sinking." I also mention Thomas Shepard’s 1605-1649 book, "The Sincere Convert and many other references." John Bunyan wrote The Pilgrim's Progress in two parts, of which the first appeared at London in 1678,which he had begun during his imprisonment in 1676. The second part appeared in 1684. The earliest edition in which the two parts were combined in one volume came out in 1728. A third part falsely attributed to Bunyan appeared in 1693. The Pilgrim's Progress is the most successful allegory ever written, and like the Bible has been extensively translated into other languages. http://www.puritanaudiobooks.net/ SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/stack45ny Puritan Reformed Audiobooks playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzOwqed_gET1LMZlDNOqxx58LREHCiLsD -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "What Do You Want? - Oswald Chambers / Christian Devotional / My Utmost for His Highest" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DDzA9Ymtck -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
