Should I Attend the Wedding of a Couple Already Living Together? // Ask Pastor John

A video published by Desiring God on September 19th, 2018

Whether we attend the wedding of a couple living together or decide stay home, we are saying something. So what exactly should we say? Happy Friday. Today’s question arrives from a young man who listens regularly. “Hello, Pastor John, thanks for the podcast! Here’s the dilemma I face right now. My wife’s best friend is also a lesbian, and was recently engaged to marry another woman. My wife and I are unified in our decision that we will not be able to attend their wedding, based on all the things you talked about back in episode 191. “However, we have heterosexual friends who are getting married who are currently living together and sleeping together before marriage. I think we would attend this wedding without hesitation. But my question to you is this: Are we inconsistent to not attend a homosexual wedding because we do not affirm their sexual lifestyle, yet be willing to attend a heterosexual wedding of unbelievers whose lifestyle of premarital sex we also cannot affirm?” Episode 1253: https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/should-i-attend-the-wedding-of-a-couple-already-living-together Related Resources: “Would You Attend a Gay Wedding?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UousPa1ks0w “Will You Marry a Couple Already Living Together?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plXldRmXIl0 “Our Wedding Date Is Set — Why Not Have Sex Now” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t09B90PeDj8 “Is Oral Sex Okay?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzimKdJKi6Q Find other recent and popular Ask Pastor John episodes, http://desiringgod.org/ask-pastor-john
